Six kinds of commission, painted in oil to order and delivered to you as a high-resolution digital file. Every price below is a starting point โ the final price depends on the size you choose and the complexity of the piece, and is agreed with you in writing before any work begins.
A portrait in oil from sittings or from photographs you provide. We agree size, format and background first, then you see the drawing before any colour goes on, and again at the halfway point.
Two people in one painting โ a couple, siblings, a parent and child. Harder than two separate portraits, because the relationship between them has to be right as well as each likeness.
An animal painted properly, in oil, from your photographs. Best results come from several pictures in natural light rather than one perfect one. Coat texture and eyes are where the time goes.
A landscape or building that matters to you, painted from your photographs and your description of the light you remember. The description usually matters more than the photographs.
A figure study or full figure painting, arranged privately. Pose, scale and degree of finish agreed in advance, with the work shown to you at drawing stage before it proceeds.
Anything not covered above. Tell us what you have in mind, including size and where it will hang, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right studio for it and what it would cost.
Tell us what you have in mind: subject, approximate size, and where the finished painting will hang. Include any reference photographs you have.
We confirm size, format and final price in writing, along with the lead time for your specific piece, before any painting begins.
For portrait and figure commissions, you see the underlying drawing before any colour is applied, so composition and likeness can be corrected early.
You see the work again at the halfway point. Larger and more complex commissions may include an additional check-in.
The finished, signed painting is scanned or photographed at high resolution and the digital file is delivered to you electronically. See the Refund Policy and Terms of Service for delivery and licensing terms.
